Hey Gang

I have been drawing robots a bit lately. I can't really talk about why yet but I assure you it's a very good reason and not just because robots are totally awesome. Also this was done entirely in Sketchbook pro. I just began checking it out but it seems like it is an amazing program for pure drawing. I am pretty sure I can do a better job of colouring stuff up in Photoshop but I wanted to experiment a bit in Sketchbook, so I resisted the urge to switch up programs after the drawing phase. I will probably be messing around between the two and trying to find a good balance for the next little while. I would love to hear some other peoples workflows involving sketchbook pro. Anyone use it?

Painting is FUN!

So I have been messing around with painting in photoshop and painter, no paint bucket, all brush, all awesome. I know, I know, I just have never really used photoshop that way because I am terrible with a tablet. Speed painting is fun, well trying to speed paint, I think I am really just moderately hurried painting. Anyhow I am loving actually painting and am having a blast playing with it and trying to figure it out. Also I want to work for MAD magazine, But like back when I was a kid. So if anyone has a line on MAD magazine's hiring dept. and a time machine then let me know. Until then, look at that wonky thumb and wonder if I will ever fix it.

Hey Team

So me and life drawing have not gotten along for a while now as many of you might be aware. Look I don't really know who started the fight but all I know is that I was wrong and I am sorry. Life drawing.....I Love you and I don't do you enough. too far?

Anyhow I am back into the whole zoo thing and I forgot how fun it is. I think for a long time there I felt a sort of pressure to perform and it really turned me off and I wasn't enjoying it at all. All I know is it felt like a chore to draw from life. I can't say I really know what has clicked in me, but I assume it has something to do with not having to produce for marks or some such crap I was inflicting on myself being gone. Either way it has been pure joy, I feel like I did at the beginning of first year and I look forward to getting back into some nudes and costumed life drawing soon too(if anyone is going let me know). Needless to say, with such a long hiatus I am very rusty but I thought I would post up a couple of drawings I liked from the other day and threw some colour on them.

Anyhow I haven't posted in a long time because:

a) I am lazy sometimes (i.e. most of the time)
b) I have been busy with work
c) I suffered a mild concussion and with it a bad bout of amnesia and forgot I even had a blog (also forgot how to speak english and tie my shoes)
d) all of the above

Chalkin Up The Ladies

Well the chalk season has been done for a few weeks now. I did my last piece on Oct. 5th overnight for Nuit Blanche and it was an interesting night. It was good season and half of me is sad to see it go and the other half is really happy its gone. Heres to winter in the studio. Anyhow here are a bunch of pieces that I didn't get around to posting until now. The Baroness was probably my favorite peice of the season,probably because it was the first time I worked entirely off of my own design. Enjoy kids.

Well I have been up to my buttocks this summer with things to get done. despite my lack of time, a few of my weekends recently I have resorted to an old habit: chalk art. I just can't stay away, these are a ton of fun to do, and you meet a lot of interesting people while you are out there. I have endless stories from my chalk sessions. Who's House?... Rye's House! Say What?

Ok Ok, So I haven't posted in a while. Quit bossin me! Anyhow, a whole semester has rolled by and I have been working on no less then 8 Films, most of them animated but a few of them not (one a mix of live action and animation). I don't expect all 8 to get finished by the end of the year (i.e. April) but being an idiot I have been working on all of them. I really only have to have one done and I can handle that, we will see how many more get done after that. If I only finish the one I will be on the ass end of alot of "what were you thinking trying to do 8 films you silly bitch" jokes, as everyone knows I am totally going ADD on the films this year. Besides all that second semester has started (three weeks ago) and production is underway on the first (hopefully) film I am going to tackle and there is plenty goings on, so stay tuned for some work from that, and like any good first post for months, I give the requisite promise to try to post more. Like anyone cares.

hey everyone. First off I have to say that if you haven't already seen Ratatouille (I would assume you have) then go see it. and if you have seen it then lets go see it again. Also if you haven't already check out the art book, I am enjoying the heck out of it.

Secondly I have to make a shout out/apology to my man Randeep, there is a certain TV series about um.......heroes........that he told me to check out and I kept on telling him I wouldn't and long story short I did and it is pretty cool.

So I threw this dude together. This is me messing around on some ideas for a character that me and the famous Al Cook were tossing around this weekend, trying to fix up one of my films for next year. I have a few more I drew in my sketchbook today too so I will get those up soon. ( I seriously saw some kid tell Al he was famous one time, it was both hilarious and awesome.)
